The Girl with Dyslexia
This is the story of a soccer playing, mud loving, strong little girl who is told she has dyslexia. She goes on a journey with her mom to figure out what that really means. This is dedicated to my mom who helped me love myself and my dyslexia and to my beautiful, talented, dyslexic goddaughter, Rae, who inspired me to write the book and teach others what it really means to be dyslexic.

About the Author:
When I found out that I was dyslexic, I remember the crushing shame that curled my shoulders and shifted my eyes from my mother’s. In that moment, I believed the lie that this children’s book aims to expose for dyslexic children and their families.
This book is based on my journey and tells the story of a soccer playing, mud loving, wild dyslexic girl who, with the help of her mother, went from seeing herself as disabled and dumb to seeing herself as gifted and strong. Finding my dyslexic pride has driven me to graduate from college with honors, to become a loud-and-proud dyslexic teacher and now to work for a non-profit in empowering youth to lead social change.
